Will Today Be The Day?
Feb, 18, 2012
Posted byAs I was blowing through another killer workout this afternoon, an epiphany occurred. I was thinking about how much better my lifts have gotten in the last 6 months.
How my training has been at a whole other level. It was weird because I hadn’t noticed until that moment. My confidence immediately swelled. I knew it was going to be an epic day.

These thoughts really got me fired up. Fired up to a point that I broke my own squat record by 20 pounds, 445 for 2 clean reps, then preceded to crush some Bulgarian Split Squats, Reverse Hyper Extensions, and One Leg Romanian Deadlifts. Epic indeed. Everything felt light. Every rep was perfect.
These are the kinds of workouts that make all the hard work and sacrifice worth it. Anyone who has ever picked up a weight lives for days like this.
These kind of days, the days where everything comes together perfectly, are what all hunters live for as well. Yep, that’s right, ALL HUNTERS live for days like this. How can I say that with such confidence? Because if you have ever taken to the woods with the intention of harvesting any type of game, you have most certainly come home empty handed a time or ten(or a hundred). Did that stop you from going out again? Didn’t think so. You continue to hunt. You adjust your strategy. Learn from your mistakes. On your next hunt, you know this might happen again, but you are always hoping that “today will be the day” and all your hard work will pay off. That 180″ class buck will come meandering past your stand and you will make that arrow or bullet count.

My point here is that you are not going to have those magical moments every day. However, in order for them to occur, you have to earn it. You have to bust your ass, make mistakes, learn from them, and progress. Whether your training to lose 20 pounds, scouting to find that giant buck, working hard to get a promotion, you must make sacrifices to reach your ultimate goals. You have to stay motivated even when you don’t “feel like it”. In other words, put your purse down and get it done. The payoff will be extraordinary.
Have you had one of these days recently?
How did you earn it?
What did it feel like?
How are you better because of it?
I’d love to hear your story. Leave a comment below and I’ll celebrate with you!
Thanks for being a reader.
